This film appeals to the computer geek in me. It’s a great example of what someone can do in their spare time to show the world their creative vision. It’s also a playground for the instinctual male desire to “blow shit up” to roam wild. More from Alex:

“I have started this project more than 3 years ago. I have been working on it on and off between all my other projects mostly – but since around 7 months have been able to finish it full time. The film and the documentation of the process was also my bachelor of arts thesis in virtual design.

My goal was to create a shortfilm / musicvideo where you can’t really tell if the music was made for the film or vice versa – where sound and picture melt together. Music is by the great Noisia a electronic music production trio from holland.”

This film is a lot of fun, and a great example of keeping it simple for students. Click here to see Daniele’s reel.

This is a wonderful short full of technique and texture. I love the story too.

I love films that call attention to their medium. Here’s another beautiful short from one of the artist of Aardman Animation. If I’m not mistaken, charcoal was used for some of the animation in this, making it the first time I’ve seen the finicky medium animated since Glen Keane used it for scenes in Pocahontas. Someone correct me if I’m wrong about the charcoal.
