CG Society has a very technical and thoroughly interesting article on what it took to deliver the facial rigs used for Avatar. Being able to construct 300 facial setups at a level of quality exceeding Gollum from Lord of the Rings sounds like a daunting task. Find out twelve people were able to do it here.
