Good slow-motion body mechanics reference for running. One of the runners in this video is Tyler Christopher, but they get his name wrong. I went to school with this guy from elementary to high school. Good to see he’s doing so well.

"The place to go to find reference footage for your animation."
One of the great things about the Animation Mentor community is the passion of the students. The students of classes past setup a Vimeo Group called, “AniRef.” It’s now grown to over 570 high quality reference videos shot by animators. There’s reference for virtually every Animation Mentor assignment plus a ton more. You can stream the videos online, or download the MP4s which can be opened with Quicktime and frame-by-framed. It’s not exclusive to Animation Mentor students either, you just need a Vimeo account to join the group, and contribute your own videos (You can still access the videos without a Vimeo account). Here’s a small sample video I found in the group that I’ve been using for a recent assignment:

The Photographs of Harold Edgerton
Check out this amazing photography shot by Harold Edgerton. I just discovered this guy’s work thanks to my last AM lecture (on squash and stretch). I’ve already ordered his book, Stopping Time, but I tracked down these images to whet my appetite until it arrives. This stuff is gravy for animators. Enjoy!
