Daniel Spencer from Pegbar, an Irish Animation Network, tipped us off to this fantastic short. Very appropriate considering the occasion as well. Happy Halloween everyone!
‘The Last Train’ is an animated short movie that was made as part of The Animation Hub, a collaboration between staff and students of the Irish School of Animation (ISA) at Ballyfermot College of Further Education (BCFE), staff and students of Trinity College’s Graphics, Vision and Visualisation Group (GV2) and the recently established animation studio Giant Creative (giant.ie), set up by BCFE graduates.
The Animation Hub, which received support from the Irish Film Board and Science Foundation Ireland, ran for 3 months over the summer in 2011 and involved Giant Creative working with animation and computer science students to create a one minute animated short fusing motion capture techniques with naturalistic 3D character animation.

Found this at Flooby Nooby. These are incredible! I’m set to carve my own pumpkins today, but after seeing these…what’s the point?

Kees van Dijkhuizen wrote me to inform me of his latest editing effort. Kees writes,
“Tim Burton is one of those filmmakers who tells stories unlike anyone else. Whether it’s about an alien invasion, the worst director of all time or a bride risen from the dead, Burton’s films are filled with unique and iconic characters and visuals that make his films unforgettable. This tenth episode of [the films of] arrives just in time for Hallowe’en to celebrate Burton’s fourteen feature films.”
Two HD versions are available: a SFW version on YouTube, and a NSFW on Vimeo. Both are edmbedded below:
Be sure to stop by Kees’ blog for a breakdown of the video.

WDAS Archive Series Book 4
Another gorgeous addition to the series has just been released. I personally would have preferred to see a full volume dedicated to both Layout and Background, but this is still a must have. It’s nice to see that more books on Layout are arriving in the near future.
